In 2010, one of three Romanians will access the Internet by using a mobile phone, the date announced by Orange and Vodafone referring to 22%, respectively 17.2% of the mobile internet users, of the total number of customers, according to survey conducted by Voxline Communication.
"If we refer to the EU average and the evolution of the mobile web users in Romania, we can estimate that, despite the effects of economic crisis, 2010 will be the mobile web year in our country, when one of three Romanians will access internet by using a mobile phone. The data announced by the main mobile phone companies, Orange and Vodafone, refer to a figure of 22%, respectively 17.2% of mobile internet users in Romania, out of the total number of customers," said Dan Vîrtopeanu, General Manager Voxline Communication, a company that provides integrated mobile marketing services.
According to the survey, Cosmote, the third local operator has not made public any data yet, but as the integration of Zapp is expected to finalise in the next six months, the number of mobile internet users is expected to have a very large increase in this network, especially since the stake of the Telemobil purchase was the 3G license of high/speed mobile data. The traffic data in October 2009, referring to the Romanian users who accessed mobile sites in the BuzzCity network (it counted 11.7 million visits) places on the top five places the terminals of Nokia (57.01%), Siemens (16.51%), Samsung (12.41%), LG (5.79%) and Motorola (2.99%), which are also the top five brands sold globally. BlackBerry has a market share of 0.05%, and Apple of 0.04%.

According to MobileStats.ro, Apple, RIM and Palm have a share of over 15%

The Romanian mobi-sites included in the MobileStats.ro monitoring registered almost 7.9 million hits in October 2009, of which more than half from Romanian mobile Internet users (3.3 million). As regards the International mobile internet market, the number of mobile sites exceeds two million, among the most popular areas of interest being news and weather. Morgan Stanley estimated 688 million mobile Internet connections for high-speed in 2009.
