Private pension funds assets advanced to 1.85 billion lei
In briefThe net assets of the mandatory and optional private pension funds reached 1.856 billion lei at the end of July, up 8.3% from June 30, according to data from the Romanian Pension Funds' Association (APAPR).
Broken down, the mandatory private pension funds (Pillar II) totalled net assets of 1.705 billion lei, up 8.4%, as compared to June.
The number of contributors on Pillar II increased by 0.8% in July to 4.392 million. The figure refers to persons who received in the private pension account at least one contribution from the launch of the system, in May 2008.
The number of empty accounts (without any contribution) in the system has decreased to less than 406,000, ie 8.5% of the total.
According to APAPR data, in the 15 monthly rounds of contribution collection, the National House of Pensions and Other Social Insurance Rights (CNPAS) transferred total gross amounts of 1.61 billion lei to the Pillar II funds.
12 companies operate on this market segment, administering a pension fund each. By asset value, the first three funds are managed by ING Pensii - 665.9 million lei, Allianz-Ţiriac Pensii - 403 million lei and Generali Fond de Pensii - 135.4 million lei.
The mandatory private pension funds have achieved an average yield of 8.89% in the first seven months of this year, 13.98% in the last year and an average annualised performance of 13.23% since the launch in May 2008.
On the voluntary pensions sector (Pillar III), the net assets of the 13 funds total 150.5 million lei, the advance on June being 7.6%, while the number of contributors increased by 2.1%, to 1,173,135 to people.
The biggest funds of this kind are ING Optim - 39.7 million lei, BCR Prudent - 34.4 million lei and AZT Moderato - 23.3 million lei.
The first fund is managed by ING Asigurări de Viaţă, the second by BCR Asigurări de Viaţă and the last by Allianz-Ţiriac Pensii.
The voluntary pension funds have achieved an average yield of 8.75% in the first seven months of this year, 9.28% in the last year and an average annualised performance of 6.37% since the launch in May 2007.
