"The turnover of both Mediplus and Sensiblu continued to increase at a lively pace, both divisions reporting solid results. The financial performance registered over this period demonstrates once again the healthy development of our business, as we continue to grow at a faster pace than that of the pharmaceutical market. We anticipate the continuation of this tendency, sustained by our expertise and the knowledge of the market, so as to expand to new territories", declared in a release Dragoş Dinu, CEO A&D Pharma.
According to the group, which quotes data from the market research company Cegedim, Mediplus increased its market share in the segment of medicine distribution to pharmacies, reaching an average of 21% for the 12-month period closed in September 2007, as compared to 20% last year.
Including the sales to hospitals, the market share of Mediplus in the total of pharmaceutical distribution market increased to an average of 18% in the 12 months ended in September this year, as compared to 16.5% in the same period of 2006.
The market share growth is explained by the improvement of the sales and marketing activities, of infrastructure and by the product line expansion. Mediplus operates a national-level logistic system which includes 12 warehouses and distributes a portfolio of around 5 000 products to more than 3 500 pharmacies.
At the same time, Sensiblu strengthened its market position in the third quarter by increasing its chain by six new units, to a total of 219 pharmacies.
