The work "Medieval scene" signed by the great lady of Romanian arts, Olga Greceanu (1890-1978), was adjudicated for 92 500 lei from the evaluation price of 12 000 lei, at the Sunday auction of Alis House.

Accomplished using a mixed technique on pressed cardboard (simili fresca), dated 1937, having the size of 357x169 cm, the work, with a wooden frame, represents a mural decoration found in the house of engineer Constantinescu from Armasului Lane, as the Alis House catalogue mentions. Coming back to the artist's name, forgotten for a while, it is proper to say that Olga Greceanu imposed the grand style of church art, defined by the rigour and durability of innovation. As a matter of fact, "national culture does not know a more complete feminine personality, in the register of continuous major concerns and with essential results", it was said in good reason about Olga Greceanu's contribution to the enrichment of the Romanian cultural heritage. With studies in Belgium, at the Liege High School of Art, then in Paris, where she specialised in mural painting, the artist distinguished herself by ample personal exhibitions, by participating in the Official Salons in Bucharest, in the international exhibitions in Barcelona, Paris and New York. She remained attached to mural painting with historical and religious themes and wrote fundamental art studies, such as "Mural composition, its laws and technique", or "National specific in painting".

Also at Alis House, a painting by Theodor Pallady, "House in the forest", oil on cardboard, was traded at the starting price of 70 000 lei, while a static nature with fruit, oil on cardboard by Corneliu Michailescu entered into another collection for 36 000 lei from 8 000 lei.

Among the top offers on Sunday 23 September, at Monavissa House, are a portrait entitled "Little girl with scarf", by Nicolae Tonitza, estimated between 62 000 and 63 000 lei, and a work in oil on wood by Theodor Aman, "In front of the easel", estimated between 38 000 and 39 000 lei.
